Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Edinburgh

Merchants Restaurant

17 Merchant St, Edinburgh EH1 2QD, UK – 0131 225 4009

Excellent service and fantastic food! A real find - the haggis and homemade fishcakes starters are highly recommended, as well as their sirloin steak. If you book a slot before 7pm, there's a £15 deal for 2 courses - the food is worth it at full price, so I honestly don't know a better deal in Edinburgh! Really, really happy with my meal.

Ate here as part of a buyagift Edinburgh castle and meal deal food was very good, large portions and good service

Ichiban Japanese Asian Restaurant

34 W Preston St, Edinburgh EH8 9PY, UK – 0131 662 1133

Ordered two ramen bowls (braised beef, and seafood special) and a bit of inari sushi for takeaway. Takeaway was prompt, and the food was tasty. The sushi was well presented in a pretty little plastic sushi box, complete with ginger, wasabi and Kikkoman soy sauce. The ramen looked quite plain in its plastic takeaway container, plus separate styrofoam container for soup, but when combined in a bowl looked and tasted great, with the seafood ramen coming with plenty of prawns, squid and mussels, and the braised beef being tender and delicious. The noodles were a bit thicker and more solid than the thin wavy noodles you sometimes get in ramen, which I liked. The price is a little high for a bowl of ramen, which is my only reservation, but when you're craving Japanese food and you don't want to go out, it's a great option to have. The only warning is that (as noted in another review) the prices on the website are very out of date and don't reflect the current prices. We ordered via Just Eat so got the current prices.

Absolute

Excellent Thai food. Bring your own wine (glasses provided), corkage £2.50 per bottle. Tom yum soup very nice, recommend chicken and spring onions from the wok. Pad Thai nice but could be a bit more spicy. Service very friendly in this family run business.

Excellent small and cosy Thai restaurant. Wonderful food well prepared and presented. One of the best Thai restaurant's that I have had the pleasure of eating at. Highly recommended
