Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Edinburgh

Blonde Restaurant

71-75 St. Leonard's St, Edinburgh EH8 9QR, UK – 0131 668 2917

Went here for a Sunday evening meal as a family group of 4 on the strength of reviews, and we were not disappointed. The decor and lighting is pleasant and modern. We all chose from the bargain menu, the options were varied enough for all our tastes, the portions generous (or standard? Not small anyway) and the food delicious. The single hardworking waitress provided good service, and our food orders arrived swiftly. We'll be back, found a new favourite restaurant!

Great food and fantastic service with careful attention to detail. They have perfectly captured the taste of fine dining in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. It’s a great spot for a great meal out that won’t break the bank.

Apiary

33 Newington Rd, Edinburgh EH9 1QR, UK – 0131 668 4999

A lovely restaurant on the south side of Edinburgh. We were here as a big group for a birthday and they looked after us so well. The food was delicious and arrived at the table all together which is often a challenge with such a big group. The service is very friendly and relaxed and made for a perfect night out with friends. I look forward to coming back and getting to try more of the menu.

creative, varied menu with vegetarian and vegan choices, The Apiary won’t disappoint. Casual and comfortable, they serve up great food with innovative flavours. For a surprising treat, try the Black Garlic or Horseradish and white chocolate ice cream (yes, ice cream) - it’s a remarkable flavour combination you wouldn’t expect!

Tower Restaurant

National Museum of Scotland, Chambers St, Edinburgh EH1 1JF, UK – 0131 225 3003

My friends and I came upon The Tower during a walking tour in Edinburgh and decided to book a reservation. It seemed like a neat location for a fine dining establishment and it had a unique view. The food was delicious but we were surprised that the service was really lacking. No one ever returned to pour wine (and we’d bought a very very expensive bottle) not did the waiter ever ask if everything was okay with our food. It was very odd. Pricey. Tasty. But they pretty much put stuff on your table and then never talk to you again. 5 Star food. 3 star service (if that) averaging to a 4.

Pretty darn good fare - - delicious etc - - but a wee bit too big for its buttons in terms of pricing. However, at any rate, you will definitely have an absolutely wonderful, first class meal here with exceptional ingredients. With a lovely waitstaff! And an amazing view of Edinburgh btw... Good stuff! 😊
